First lets talk about the heat press method.

We will be using a lot of pressure burnishing the vinyl. Place the iron on vinyl onto the mat shiny side down and load the mat into the cutting machine. If you still aren t seeing results you can turn up the heat on your iron a small amount. If you start pressing vinyl or a similar fabric with a thicker press cloth like a fleece or flannel and you aren t getting results try switching press cloths before changing the heat on your iron.

An untreated canvas works best for this. Result the htv stuck perfectly. Before you put your vinyl design onto the canvas grab a large hardback book. If you are looking for instructions on how to iron htv on canvas fabric ie not an art canvas but a canvas tote bag you re in luck htv sticks wonderfully to canvas fabric just be sure to wash the canvas to give it some texture and the htv will stick wonderfully.

The key is to paint th. I think it was a beautiful addition to the wedding and it was such a sweet personal touch that didn t cost too much money. But with a canvas there is a little give when you push on it and you want to be able to push firmly. Switch to a cotton press cloth and try again.

One of the difficulties with getting the vinyl to stick is the canvas does not have a hard surface. It can be done. I tested both adhesive or sticky vinyl and heat transfer or htv vinyl. You can also use adhesive vinyl for doing a reverse canvas but i prefer the look of one that has been done with htv and a heat press. Testing vinyl on canvas.

Since you re using heat transfer vinyl it s going to transfer with heat aka your iron or a heat press. The whole canvas was dry in under an hour and paint could still be applied to it and holy of holy s the vinyl stuck.
